Bica privacy policy

Bica is in private testing. Publisher details and retention settings are awaiting completion before public release.

Last updated: 1 October 2026. This policy describes Bica's website and iOS/Android application.

Information used to provide Bica

We store your account email, username, password hash and optional profile information; language preferences, reading activity, bookmarks, saved vocabulary and follows; generated podcasts and their scripts; subscription status; device tokens when you enable notifications; and support or content reports you submit. Authentication tokens protect your account. Device downloads are stored on your device.

We use this information to sign you in, personalise reading, keep learning progress, provide requested features, manage subscriptions, prevent abuse and respond to support requests. Operational logs may contain request identifiers, error details and network information needed to secure the service.

Optional AI features

If you enable AI features, Bica shares your messages, selected text, selected articles, language level and relevant learning context with OpenAI, ElevenLabs, DeepL as needed to generate tutoring replies, translations and podcast scripts or audio. Do not include information you do not want these providers to receive. AI output can be inaccurate.

AI features are optional. You can keep reading and saving vocabulary without enabling them, and withdraw permission in Privacy settings. Withdrawal stops new requests; requests already in progress may finish, and information already sent cannot be recalled.

Messages are sent to the service when you request a reply. Generated podcast scripts and audio are kept in your account until removed. Provider processing and retention also depend on the provider agreements and settings; withdrawing permission does not delete information already processed by a provider.

Service providers and purchases

Bica uses hosting, database, storage, email and error-monitoring providers to operate the service. The release's verified provider inventory and retention settings must match the configured deployment. Apple or Google processes native store purchases; RevenueCat verifies receipts and subscription status using an opaque Bica account identifier. Website purchases, when available, are processed by Stripe. Bica does not receive your full payment card details.

Optional analytics

You may answer optional audience questions about age group, gender, nationality, residence and languages in your profile. A separate audience-sharing choice allows demographic answers to be linked with reading and feature activity in PostHog EU when optional analytics is enabled. You can skip, edit or clear answers. Demographics do not control recommendations or prices. Withdrawal stops future sharing; account deletion also requests removal of linked analytics. Local analytics event snapshots are kept for at most 90 days. Provider retention is managed separately.

With your permission, PostHog receives feature-usage events linked to a Bica account identifier. We exclude chat text, saved vocabulary and authentication links from product analytics and keep session recording disabled. You can enable or withdraw optional analytics in Privacy settings. Reading activity used for your own learning and recommendations is separate from optional product analytics.

Your choices and deletion

Use Account settings to export your information or delete your account. You can also use the web account-deletion page without installing the app. Disable notifications through the app or device settings. Contact the publisher to request access, correction or help with erasure.

Deleting your account removes account records and schedules private audio removal. Cleanup can be delayed by processing or provider failures. Unresolved generation or editorial audit records may require support before deletion. Payment, fraud-prevention and immutable audit records may require limited retention. Store subscriptions must be cancelled separately to stop renewal.

The backup retention schedule must be confirmed before Bica opens to the public.

International processing and updates

Service providers may process information outside your country. The publisher must verify the applicable provider agreements and transfer safeguards before public release. We will update this policy when processing changes and request renewed AI permission when the disclosed recipients change.
